Nforce3 250 problems, waaah.

Heres the deal..

Bought A64 3000 and Chaintech VNF250.

Huge instability problems. First of all fastwrites causes immediate system hang in 3d apps including 3dmark03, as if they arent supported. But i have a 6800gt, its gotta support fastwrites. Turning fastwrites off fixes everything. Why cant I use fastwrites!

Additionally, overclocking the 6800gt to the exact levels I had it overclocked in my AthlonXP setup causes huge distortions and graphical problems on this board.

I figured it must be a mobo problem.

I RMA'd it and bought an MSI Nforce3 250.

I cant figure out what it is... I can complete 3dmark03 only with system completely stock but with fastwrites off. Any cpu overclock causes 3dmark03 to hang and any vid card overclock causes weird colors and distortions. Any use of fastwrites causes immediate hang in 3d.

Ram is not the prob, Ive tried several different DIMMS. PSU cant be the prob, i upgraded to antec true-430 and prob didnt go away. Mobo cant be the prob, this is the second one.

Everything stinks 🙁

I wanna overclock cpu and I wanna overclock vid card to what it was on my other system 🙁

did you do a fresh install of the OS

Your new system uses more power than the old one. Fastwrites don't offer much performance improvements.

Yes my system does use more power, but thats why I got an antec true-430 just in case. Didnt fix it...

And yes Ive reformatted reinstalled OS many times.
