Anyone know when nForce3 250 mb's are supposed to hit the streets? I figured they would be out by now, but I can't find one anywhere.

Thanks. Shoulda looked in the mb forum. Bottom line seems to be not real soon. I'm bailing out of an ECS 755A and need a replacement. Guess I'll go with a nForce3 150.

K8V is not cripped in memory like the nforce3 150. I can still OC a fair amount, and it is ROCK solid even OC'ed. I would go with either the ASUS K8V or the MSI (not a real MSI fan, but several people seem to like them)

Whats wrong with the 755 ???

I got rid of my ECS 755-A board too returned it back to NewEgg, damn thing would run memory at 200 MHz and only at 166 MHz. Got the ASUS K8 now and running well. What reason are you bailing on the ECS for?

Exact same reason as you. Damn thing won't run even the best memory at 200mhz. Just got my RMA # from NewEgg. ECS should never have released the 755A, because it can't even run as advertised. Now they have the 755A2 Revision that supposedly works, but what about those that bought into the 755A?

Agree with you about releasing a board that doesn't run at 200 MHz, though some people have had success flashing the A verison with the A2 version and getting the 200 MHz.

Re: flashing the A2 bios

I did try that, but after flashing I couldn't get into Windows anymore (blue screens, various errors). So I flashed back to the original bios and got everything running again. I think the SIS chipset has great potential; it's just too bad the first commercially available mb with it turned out to be a POS.

It was the only thread with the best information I found. :)

Yep, I'll wait for the NForce board. No more Via for me, thanks. It's not that the Via chipset boards are bad per se, but that the NForce boards are just BETTER. :D

You all are too easy. I find it hard to believe that the best information is "later this spring." As spring (northern hemisphere) starts March 21, later in the spring could be May or even early June. Is that really the timeline here? If that's really the case, heck with socket 754. At that point, I would guess that 939 will start to make more sense.

Well, no, not really. Not until we see some reviews and benchmarks of a Socket 939 CPU. They aren't out yet.

*edit* I assume you mean the NEWER 900-odd pin Athlon64s that are coming out....not the FX51, right?

I looked around and just found a tidbit. According to The Inq, Epox will have an nForce3 250 board out in February. Here's the article. If that's accurate, I would be surprised if we don't see one or two other options out by then.

MichaelID, I think there will be socket 939 options for non FX A64s. Check out the AT AMD 2004 CPU Roadmap Update, specifically the table titled "Socket-939 Roadmap for 2004."

edited for clarity.

Sorry if this has already been posted:

Check out AT Price Guides February.

"If you checked out our motherboard coverage from CES, or our AMD roadmaps, you'll know we have a couple exciting things to look forward this February. If you read our motherboard coverage closely, you will notice that we were a little surprised motherboard manufacturers have chosen to adopt nForce3 250 on Socket 754 before Socket 939. In fact, we should start to see nF3 250 boards very soon. nF3 250's biggest advantage over nF3 150 is the 1GHz HT bus."

The other interesting news there is AMD price cuts Feb 15th.

Looks like February could be the A64 socket 754 month, while April is when A64 gets even more interesting with socket 939.

DFI Lanparty Nforce2 250 and an A64 3000+ or 3200+ in a couple of weeks? I'd be game.

I also don't know what to make of AT's comments about the SIS 755-A2 chipset.

"SiS is slowly clawing their way into the Athlon 64 world. ECS finally was able to get their 755-A board under control with a second revision, the 755-A2. Wesley Fink drew some surprising conclusions from the ultra-cheap board that actually surprised everyone a little bit (particularly during gaming performance). Unfortunately, it took SiS and ECS two tries to get it right, but the ECS 755-A2 might be the fastest Socket 754 board for some time."

Is that a hint to look closer at 755-A2, maybe even over nForce3 250? Will we see more 755 mobos?

Much more in the Feb guide than I expected when I started reading it.
