i think it is worth it; nforce2 board prices are fairly low, i saw an epox 8rda+ for $85. i would combine this with a 1700+, and twinmos memory pc3200. good luck!
I am running the 8RDA and a 2500 Barton @2800. My barton has never seen 2500. Right out of the box, I clocked it to 2800 with some Corsair Value memory that runs rock stable at 333RSB. I have a 1700 but I think that for $91.00 you can get the 2500 barton to 3000 without too much trouble and a bit more effort that I put into it.
