Well.............I used the Samsung stuff with my ol' P4 rig I had back in November. Good stuff.

I am currently using the Corsair XMS PC3200 TwinX 512 MB in my Asus A7N8X Deluxe. Love it. Runs at 400 MHz without a problem. I had it tweaked out just like Corsair claimed it would do without any voltage increases.

I will be building a system using the HyperX stuff in the near future here.

Unless the Samsung is adverting CL2, instead of the CL2.5 that I normally see, I would go with the HyperX. It is rated out of the box at tighter memory settings. No reason to "hope" the Samsung will overclock well and run at good memory timings. Get the stuff that is guaranteed to be good off the get go.

Thanks audiofight. I was favoring the HyperX for it's guaranteed specs but I liked the Samsung's prices. :)

HyperX looks good. I just got some PC3200 Geil from newegg.com and they run at 200Mhz, as I have both my Ram and Athlon running at 200Mhz FSB. It was cheap and had some good ratings.

Don't know how much of a overclock it will do, but I do know it will do at least what it is rated at.

it might be board specific but i can speak first hand in saying the msi boards have alot of issues with Kingston Hyper X. if u search the msi forums there's a guy who talked to kingston and the only nforce board they say they support is the epox 8rda

The samsung memory is cheap 'cause it's samsung chips on a generic PCB board. I think the overclockability between the original and the generic Samsung memory is very significant. When buying Samsung memory, I would stay away from it if it's not 100% Samsung.

Tao, I recently got an 8RDA+ and a 512Mb stick of Twinmos/Winbond PC3200.

It's been running fine for me! I just completed a 12 hour run of Prime95 at 11x200 with settings of 5-2-2-2, and my JIUHB 0302 is a happy camper!

I got it at WWW.MemoryX.com, and I think the price was $122 at the time (w/o shipping).

Luckily for me, my motherboard IS an Epox 8RDA+. :D

Thanks for tips guys. I think I'll steer clear of the generic Samsung. It looks like for the price I want to pay the best bet is the HyperX. Does anyone know of a price better than $74/stick?

Megatomic, I'm not sure if you bought your ram yet, but if you're set on Kingston HyperX, why not get the PC3000 512meg stuff for $86 at Newegg.
The extra speed is definitely worth the price and alot of people have been taking the ram to 400Mhz.

I actually did already buy the memory Mavrick007, I got 2 x 512MB of Kingston HyperX PC2700. I have decided to keep my system at 166MHz FSB. Thanks for the tip though. :)
