just wondering if anyone has heard of any MB Makers that are going ot reliease a MB with raid capabilities, and i'm not talking about Serial Raid either, thing is, i have alot of IDE HDDs (planning to get rid of a few of them 😀) but i would like onboard RAID instead of having to guy a RAID Card... lesss clutter and more air flow also since i OC a wheee too much 🙂

any info guys?

I too have been looking for an nForce2 board with an extra IDE channel to hook up all my drives to (don't want to RAID though, just need to hook up 5 IDE devices). I've found that the Aopen AK79D Max and SOLTEK SL-75FRN2-RL boards have a third IDE plug on them, but they're listed as being part of a RAID function. Since I'm not familiar with how RAID works, I don't know if these can be used just to hook up a 5th or 6th IDE device. Anyone know?

on the MoBos with onboard raid that I am familiar with, the IDE connectors which would service a raid array
can alternatively be used to service IDE HDs in a non-raid function as well. Although, some do not service
optical drives (CDROMs, etc..)
