"Optimized SPD for Dual Channel DDR motherboards"

the previous statement is listed in the description of one of the geil sticks (2x512mb pc3200) at newegg. is that an empty statement, or is there really an advantage to getting this ram as opposed to just getting two 512mb sticks separately (assuming they are both from the same manufacturer and the same kind of ram.)

I've seen some people I think say they have problems if they do not get the memory sticks in a dual channel kit. I have never ever had a problem running so-called single channel memory sticks together in dual channel mode. I have ran completely different sizes and brands together with absolutely no problems. That is my experience and opinion.

Athlon XP's can't access access more than a single channel's worth of bandwidth anyhow, so dual channel alone is almost a waste; dual channel "optimized" is a complete waste, since it marginally boosts a marginal number(the performance advatage of DC).
