nForce2/Barton or SiS655FX/Prescott in Vapochill

Hi there.

I need some advice/help.

I am running a Barton @ ~2500MHz (11.5x220) on my Abit NF7-S v2.0 inside my Vapochill, I am quite satisfied with the rig except for the crappy SATA/RAID-controller that is on the board.

My 2nd puter has crashed and now I got my hands on (used stuff - really cheap) a Prescott 2.8GHz and a ASUS P4S800D motherboard.

I need some advice about what hardware is going to be Vapochilled (waterchilled on NB and VGA) and what hardware is going to be aircooled.

What would have been you're choice?

Other things that kan be interesting and useful in the decision:

RAM in the Vapo is 2x256MB A-data PC4000 (500MHz).
Harddrives that is going to be used inside the Vapo is 2x160GB SATA Hitachi in RAID-0.
For the moment a ATI9500Pro @ 330/330.
The main use for the "Vapo-puter" is FPS-gaming and DVD-ripping/burning.

thx

btw: there is a Mobile Athlon XP 2500+ on way in aswell... that might be useful to know....

see how far you can get the 2.8E to go
and then see how far you get the mobile 2500+ to go

and then keep whatever goes further (though for the prescott it'll have to be much higher in order to actually start becoing faster than the p4c) ;)

How much higher must the prescott get to be faster than a P4C?

Lets say that I get the prescott up to 3500MHz, is the prescott still slower than a P4C? If I compare it with a AMD XP och a AMD64 what speed is it fair to compare with?

a prescott at 3.5ghz is about as fast as the 3.5C, so 3.5 is when the prescott begins to show its true hot self.

The 3.0c is a better overclocker then the prescott. You should be able to get it to 3750 with vapochill. I still say at under 4 ghz the northwood is better performer than the prescott.

So you think that it is worth the effort to build in the Prescott/ASUS-board inside the Vapo instead of a Mobile 2500+/Abit-board?

That's the main issue, what parts goes inside the Vapo and what parts that goes "aired".
