kind of a newbie .... does any one know if of the following three MBs, which can change the muliplier?? i was thinking of running a xp2600+ on one...

Epox 8RDA+
Leadtek K7NCR18D
Asus A7N8X

i know the Asus board has the feature of controlling jus the fsb w/o changing anything else which seems to be a plus...but i'm not sure on the other boards.. i've heard some places that the 2600+ (333mhz) come unlocked?? is this true??

any suggestions/comments on this combo???

thanx!

ps. the reason for jus those three MBs r cuz i couldnt find too many other nForce2 boards out there....thanx again

I believe they all can, it's pretty standard with the high-end boards. However multiplier changing won't do you any good without first unlocking the processor.

I believe that some people are reporting that they can change the multiplier on Thoroughbred cores without modifing the chip. All of these boards should be capable of changing the mult., so try lowering it first to see if it came unlocked. The all should include an AGP/PCI lock, which would you allow to freely adjust the FSB. Evan Lieb, who is the MB reviewer here, will put up a review of five or six of these next week sometime. Welcome to the forums. Peace.
