nforce2 and 5.1 sound?

I've looked around and can't seem to come up with any solid information on how to achieve 5.1 channel sound with the nforce2. Is it only available with the SPDIF? I just bought a set of Logitech z640 speakers, which have no SPDIF... despite what the morons at BB told me. I'm debating whether or not to take them back depending on if the nforce2 Soundstorm chip is doing the work or if the Realtek chip doing the work. (?)

Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks!

the realtek chip is there for audio only.

yes nforce does support 5.1 just fine

I haven't actually bought one yet... probably going with the Epox. I was waiting on the 8rda2, which will supposedly come out at the end of the month; that was for the SPDIF port, but I guess if the 5.1 speakers I can afford don't have SPDIF, it doesn't matter.

So realtek is just there to convert whatever the Soundstorm does to analog outputs?
