I own an Asus rev. 1.04 A7N8X Deluxe mobo. With the newest 1007 bios I can run my no-name DDR400 RAM at 200MHz speeds all day and the FSB at 200MHz using an unlocked Barton XP2500+ all day with no probs so long as they are not running in sync with one another. I get constant crashes when running the RAM and FSB together at 200MHz. Since you lose a lot of performance running the RAM and FSB at async speeds it is just not worth it to run the FSB and RAM out of sync with one another on my nForce2 board. Could this be caused by the type of RAM I am using, ie. would better quality DDR400 RAM help with this? Or is this simply a limitation of my chipset rev. used on my board?:frown:

That's possible, but why don't you see what happens when you run the ram in single-channel mode? All you have to do is pull out one stick of ram, and put it into the slot that was empty at first (before you pulled out a stick).

Also, what memory-voltage settings have you tried so far? If you haven't kicked it up from the default 2.5 volts, try 2.6 volts, and 2.7 if necessary.

If you are running Ram at single channel, you want tight timings, 2-2-2-6 but when you run double channel you need to loosen the timings because you have 2 sticks. Try changing the timing to 2.5-3-3-11 which might cure your problem............ :D

First and most important, run Memtest 86 to determine that all is well.

Mech is right on with upping the voltage. Any ram i get, on any system, i always bump Vdimm to 2.8V..

I had stablity issues a way back on a Tbird that just needed that little extra juice, reguardless of overclocking.

There is no reason the loosen the timings because you are running dual channel. After reading another post you have made I have to say, you really need to stop posting bad info. It may make you feel like you are smart for a minute but eventually it's gonna screw somebodys system royally.

The only reason to loosen the timings beyond specified is if you are running the FSB out of spec, unless your board sucks and cannot run a 200FSB with dual channel. In that case buy a different board. Now, if you are running that tight of timings it may be that the RAM cannot run at those settings and they need to be loosened, but it's not because you are running dual channel it's because your RAM is crap and wouldn't run those timings single either.
