Nforce Ultra/Nvidia Network Access Manager Problems

Got a problem which I think is due to Nvidia Forceware NAM . New system as below installed on XP Pro with v6.66 of Network access manager. I have now uninstalled the NVidia firewall but problem still exists

Internet access is OK but when I download a file it is generally corrupted. If I'm lucky after several attempts it may eventually save correctly. However on a software update ie Office or McAfee, I have no luck it will just fail with an error ie cab file error or cannot unzip etc. No other network issues and file transfer from other PC is fine

Not sure what to do now, do I actually need the NAM installed to use the onboard ethernet connection?

Any advice gratefully received
Thanks
Parker

generally, the nvidia NAM and active armor stuff are very problematic and unreliable. my suggestion would be to NOT to use them. the nviida nic will work fine without the NAM crap.

also, try turning off "checksum offload" on the nvidia nic and see if that solves your problem.
in case you don't know how to do that, here:
1: Goto "Start" > "Control Panel".
2: Double click to open "Network Connections".
3: Right click on your network adapter and go to properties (should be labeled as "NVIDIA nForce Ethernet Controller").
4: Click on "Configure" and go to the "Advanced" tab.
5: Select "Checksum Offload" and choose disable in the window to the right.
6: Click on Ok.

Thanks guys I think things are sorted OK. I don't think the firewall uninstall left anything behind but that Active armor is the problem. If this is set to 'on' and 'not offloadable' and also the checksum setting you suggest as above is disabled, my downloads do now complete normally.

Many thanks again for your advice, I am amazed Nvidia released such a poor utility for such a good hardware product.
