Hey guys,

I'm currently having a problem getting my onbaord sound to produce sound to the rear speakers while I'm playing games. I've tried all sorts of arrangments with the plugs in my motherboard. I'm currently running the Gigabyte K8N Pro. I'm running hte most recent chipset drivers of 5.10. Basically in Windows the surround sound works great; sounds just awesome and works as it should. When I start a game (Battlefront, UT2004 or even FarCry) my surround sound doesn't work; just the front speakers do.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? In the games I've got 5.1 set up for my speaker settings. I'm tried running it off of hardware and software in the "in game audio" settings as well.

I really like the sound of my onbaord sound but I might have to go backto my sound card.

Any advice?

I'd just put the ZS back in. ALC850 is a software audio solution that works with the basic nV APU which is limited to 2 channels and doesn't have the dolby digital encoding capabilities of the MCP-D and MCP-T. That means the surround functionality falls to the realtek CODEC and that's not a plus. The ZS is a far better audio solution, bloatware, creative crap drivers, and all.

That's actually what I did as well. I installed the ZS. It's unmatched.
