For all you that still have a problem with the onboard card NIC for NFORCE based chipset Motherboards.

Go to RUN and type cmd to get a command line window. Then type "IPCONFIG \ALL" . Verify that your nforce NIC has a MAC address 00-00-00-00-00-00-00 IF YES then you have to do the following. Look into any manuals or books that came with your Motherboard and look for the MAC address. If not just look for a small white sticker on your MOTHERBOARD ... it should have numbers and letters TOTAL of 12 digits.

Then go to the settings of your NIC card from your device manager and go to ADVANCED... Select manually the field address and type that number in the field. By default your card should have had Address NOT SPECIFIED. Apply and OK! The NIC restarts automatically !
YOU SHOULD FINALLY ABUSE AND USE THE pain in the *** nforce Nic that no one bothers to help us.
peace everyone

What motherboard(s) have been giving you problems, out of curiosity? :)

<-- has about 3 dozen nForce systems at work that never give a moment's trouble

sure. I agree. Have you ever tried to upgrade the bioses.. maybe not. I have a 7NJS Zenith Chaintech which was working fine but after Bios changes and OS seemed that never wanted to work again. Same with a shuttle board. Anyway if you search around the net a lot of people with MSI,ASUS name it and nforce2 chipset SPECIFICALLY ( to clarify this) have the same problem. NFORCE2.

I have certainly updated their BIOSes, yes. My nForce2 boards (five so far) haven't had this issue either, and speaking as one of the more active motherboard troubleshooters at this Forum (notice my five-digit post count, well guess how that happened ;)), I can't say that I've seen a major trend with the nVidia NIC where I'd think twice about recommending a BIOS update.

But anyway, your tip may help someone out, and some boards let you specify the MAC address in the BIOS too. So thank you for the contribution :)

I had that problem once with my Epox 8RDA+. No biggie really. Just grab a mac address (physical address) from ipconfig or the sticker on your printer port. You can go into the BIOS and add the mac and your done.

But it is good that this info is posted. There are people who have this issue.
