I have an nForce4 Epox 9NPA with an Athlon 64 3200+ Venice. I'm probably going to get a nForce 680i and a Core 2 Duo 6600. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to, but I wanted to make sure if I'm going to have to reformat and re-install everything on my C drive after the switch. Yes?

I am not 100% sure, but I would have to say yes, especially since you are going to a different nforce version. If you stayed the same you might have a chance, but even then I would still recommend a reformat to avoid any system instability.

I've had good and bad experiences with keeping an XP install with motherboard change. If you have the time and patience, try uninstalling all drivers, disable or remove all devices possible, then do a repair install. It may or may not work well. It worked well for me going from an nForce2 to an nForce4 SLI board, but didn't go well going from an nForce4-4X (S-754) to the same nForce4 SLI board. Also, no luck going from S-939 nForce4 to nForce4 SLI. I've decided not to bother trying anymore.

I just changed from an amd nf7s mobile 2600+ to a e6300 ecs P4M800PRO Didn't have to do a thing. Was pretty surprised when it booted into windows without 1 error.
