Please be gentle, this is the first system I've built in years. And the first time wasn't exactly a success.

Anyway, I am about to install my new LAN Party UT nF3 250 Gb motherboard. There is an installation disc with nForce drivers on it. Would I be misssing anything if I just download and install the latest ones from nVidia's website? I know in the case of video cards it's always better to install the drivers from nVidia's site instead of tthe ones on the install discs and I just want to make sure the same applies here.

Thanks for helping. For some reason motherboard installations make me nervous so I tend to ask what may be thought to be silly questions.

I always use the latest nforce drivers for my DFI nforce2 board from Nvidia`s website, however in your case you might as well get all the latest drivers from DFI here ,since that`ll ensure you`ll have ALL the latest drivers for everything including RAID etc....
Btw welcome to the AT forums,so yes you can use Nvidia nForce reference drivers.

Depends what OS you're using. Lastest Win2K drivers from Nividia are 4.27, on the CD they are 5.03. For XP the latest Nvidia are 5.10, and the CD 5.03. Assuming you're using XP, the only difference between the 5.10 and 5.03 is that the 5.10 updates the GART driver to 4.36 from 3.77.

Edit: Here is installation order I use:
Windows -> LAN Driver -> Windows updates -> DX9 -> Nvidia SM Bus and GART -> Videocard drivers -> Windows updates. I don't use onboard audio but you can install those drivers last if you do.

Thanks, guys. I'll take the advice and use the ones from the nVidia website. When it is time to update the nForce drivers can they be uninstalled like the drivers for the Geforce cards before updating?

Also, Krose, how is the sound quality with the onboard sound carrd on the the LAN Party? I was hoping not to have to use the SB Live I have. Even though the latter is old, it gets such a clear, crisp sound on higher pitches that I have used it for the last several years.

Thanks.

Sorry, have not tried the onboard sound, I use my trusty TB Santa Cruz. You can uninstall the Nforce drivers from "Start -> Settings -> Control panel -> add/remove progams". You may also want to use Driver Cleaner to remove them completely.
