Nforce Dolby Digital encoding: How much of a CPU hit?

A buddy of mine is hoping to use his Scirocco DigiTheatre DTS for video gaming. The DigiTheatre only supports stereo analog audio, but has optical and coax inputs for DD/DTS... So, with the nForce generating a DD stream from D3D signals, it should work for him.

The question, however, is the following: How much performance does the encoding sap? I read somewhere that it's about 30%, but I can no longer find this information. Any help will be appreciated. 🙂

I'm not near my machine, so I can't check it out, but theoretically there shouldn't be any performance loss since the encoding is all in hardware.

Sounds awesome... Come to think of it, I ought to get an nForce board and an Aego5 speaker system. 🙂
