nforce chipset for amd?

The nForce is a chipset of it's own...AMD will not use nForce...their current chipset is the AMD 761; the two do not go together.

nForce is a chipset developed by Nvidia for the AMD athlon/duron CPU's. There will be no "replacement" of VIA... it will simply co-exist w/ the via chipsets. nForce may also be implemented to an Intel CPU in the future, this is unknown as of yet though. In any case, do some searches on the forms and the web regarding this... I believe Anand has an article about it... looks promising and will fit nicely w/ existing chipsets for the athlon (ie. AMD760, KT133(A), SiS735, KT266, and the ALi MAGiK).

AMD couldn't replace VIA if they tried. This is because VIA is an independant company that produces chipsets on their own, for Intel and AMD. They're even going to produce a P4 chipset without Intel's approval.
