I heard that with the new Nforce 2, the audio is as good if not better than the Audigy 2 depending on which sound option you get onboard (applies to nVidia sound only).

Why don't you try them both and tell us??? If you don't have a soundcard and are getting an nForce2, I would pass on getting a soundcard. If you already have something like an Audigy, only way to tell for sure is to listen for yourself. I'm a heavy gamer, so I'd go with the Audigy for Advanced EAX HD, but if you aren't a heavy gamer and are mostly into DVDs, CDs, MP3s, and don't want to deal with the potential driver issues (never had em myself with Audigy 2, but I noticed Live! was funky only after I uninstalled it) from Creative, then go with nForce2 as the reviews have been excellent for onboard sound.

Nvidia's APU and SoundStorm brand is very good, but it should be remembered that this is the same APU as was used in the original nForce chipset, which then was thought to be about equal to a SB Live!. Only the SoundStorm moniker and some software updates are new. The SB Audigy and Audigy2 is better, and if you already have an Audigy then go ahead and use it. It's better than a SB Live!, and its better than the nForce's APU.;)

ok i'll probably use the audigy, but when i use the audigy in my current system (gigabyte 7vtxe, kt266a) the system loses all stability and I have to pull the card and uninstall the drivers to get the system to function without rebooting every couple dozen minutes.
i even had the audigy on its own irq.. all kinds of tricks like pci latency patches, voodoo hexes, satanic rituals, anythign to get this god forsaken audigy to not mess up my computer.. so now im using 2speaker onboard ac97 with my z560s.. :(

but i was planning on ditching the audigy but i'll give it a try

edit- now that i think about it, i bet its via's pci bus that causes the problems because i have problems with all my pci devices in one way or another. mostly my tv tuners (ati tv wonder/hauppauge wintv go).
