nforce and ATA133

I'm about to get a MSI K7N420, and was going to get a Maxtor D740X, which runs at ATA133. In the manual for the mobo it says Ultra DMA 33/66/100 controller. This means I wouldn't benefit from getting the Maxtor, right? What if I got a Promise 133 controller card? Is there any mobo out that supports 133 right now? And finally, cna you really tell that much of a difference?

You wouldn't benefit as opposed to an ATA 100 drive, but it's still going to be fast.

This would allow you to use it at 133 speeds, but there have been issues booting off of a controller card as opposed to onboard IDE.

The Abit KR7A-Raid has support for four 133 devices in addition to onboard IDE due to it's Raid chip. Same story with the IWill XP333-R, but overall, the Abit is a better performance/value board.

In benchmarking, yes. In real world performance, it depends what you do, but most likely no.

Well I don't know about the Nforce but I use a ultra 133 card on a 8KHA+ and a A7V133 non raid with no problems on booting
