I've been watching the nVidia forum closely to try to figure out how well the 6.53 drivers work. So far, the misery level at that forum hasn't changed much -- there are still a huge number of problems concerning the NIC, IDE, and especially the NAM = firewall.
The complaints are peculiar in that users with similar systems experience different problems. In fact, one user's system worked great until the mobo died, he replaced it with an identical mobo, and then he started having problems similar to those reported by others in the nVidia forums. There seem to be a number of very common problems but there doesn't seem to be a predictable relationship such that every system of a particular type has the same problem...
My experience with the nVidia drivers is that simply removing and reloading them changed the symptoms I see, but this seems to be the norm with these drivers - they remain unpredicatable. Presently, my system is stable with drivers from the CD (I haven't installed the IDE drivers from plain fear of what might happen; I tolerate occasional dropout of the NIC because there aren't any real options - I got BSOD's with the 6.39 drivers when accessing the net) and I am monitoring the nVidia forum awaiting a change in the reported misery level. My conclusion so far is that nVidia is working on something other than these drivers despite the noise level in their forums so I expect a long wait (perhaps forever) for reliable drivers for my NF4.
