In case you haven't figured that out yet: The RAM controller is in the CPU not the chipset. Socket-754 processors have a single-channel RAM controller.

There are supposed to be some s754 NF4 boards coming out but as Peter said, the memory controller is located in the CPU and not the chipset. And AMD does not make any s754 chips with dual channel memory controllers in them.

The benefit of the s754 NF4 boards is you get PCI-e.

tha asus mobo looks expensive. i need to build a *cheap* gaming system for my 9 years-old niece next month. she will play mostly sims2 and it looks like one of these mobo(ecs/epox) with a sempron will hit the spot. what do you all think?

You could save quite a bit of money if you go with a Soltek K8AN2E-GR and a s754 Sempron chip. That board is insanely stable and just about the fastest NF3 board at stock speeds.

Oh and you could get her a case with a side window and she'll love the purple slots. :D

ECS NFORCE4-A754 Socket 754 for 70$.

Fry's combo (ECS 755-A2, Sempron) plus an AGP graphics card and one DIMM, and the niece shall be set.

You're aiming for midrange ... which is where AGP gives you cheaper boards and cards.
