Anybody out there using the Nforce 4 boards with dual raid enabled? What kind of luck/problems are you having? I am researching an upgrade for my audio computer. These seem ideal due to their 4gb ram, multiple sata controllers and PCIe. I am planning on running a 4 monitor setup with 2 cards in NON SLI mode. but I have several obstacles.
The Gigabyte N4 hangs the Raid controller and the IEEE1394 controller off of the regular PCI bus. This is a problem when running your audio over the 1394 to be deposited on the raid as they will almost always fight each other for control of the buss.
The DFI seems great, but has been reported to have long term stability problems. I relularly have sessions which last 16 or more hours, finished by 10-20 gigabytes of backups. This is a nono.
Asus does not list the logical layout of their boards EG what connects to the PCI buss, what goes to the norhtbridge etc. I tried downloading a manual, but their website is buggy and slow. Gave up after 2 hours.
any suggestions?
