Hi,

I am looking foward to purchase a nforce4 ultra mobo in the next few weeks but I am in the dilemma between the following brands - ASUS, ABIT, MSI & DFI. From what I understand, these 4 mobo manufactuers can be considered as the industry leading manufacturers. So which one should I choose?
Perhaps share some of your past experiences in terms of mobo quality, reliability, stability(especially after many years of usage).

Cheers

This will be my first DFI (Ultra-D), but I have heard really good things about their quality control, and they are really designed for the enthusiast crowd. Another plus; they use only Japanese capacitors, so hopefully no blown up cap problems.

Well Asus is very nice, and has the best of all the words. The largest manf in the world. Top of the line usually has A LOT of features and costs a pretty penny.

DFI is VERY high quality. They are not for a beginner and often include incredible tweaking features and are often on the higher price point.

Abit is very nice as well, more OCer oriented than the Asus but less so than the DFI

MSI is is also very nice, and is about on par with Abit. However MSI has had some problems with cheap capacitors in the past, and their boards tend to be a bit more unstable.

Actually last review(MSI) I read on their nforce 4 board, they were using high quality capacitors,as to Asus ,I guess you did not see see this thread on blown caps ,bottom line no board or brand is 100% perfect when it comes to hardware reliability.

Going by your list,I think only the MSI and DFI Ultra NF4 boards are actually available at this time,DFI would be my choice for overclocking, however the MSI NF4 Ultra is a decent board in its own right.

Looks like it`ll come down to price/OC and features you need.

My experiences:

DFI: Never used a DFI board before but their current A64 boards get uber reviews by hardware sites. Extremely overclockable, and my next board will be likely be a DFI. They are a bit pricey though.

Abit: I have used a Abit KR7A, VA-10, NF7, BH7 and a BE6 and they are great quality boards and they OC pretty well, and are reasonably priced for their features. However their current board lineup is sloppy and their quality have gone down significantly these days.

Asus: Same as Abit but with less overclockability. Overpriced IMO, they tend to charge quite a bit more than others. Usually I will look for other brands before considering Asus because of the pricing.

MSI: A decent manufacturer. Their build quality isn't as good as Abit, DFI, Asus and they are notorious for the "hidden overclock" feature in their P4 Neo boards. I have used boards from MSI and while mine do work good, I'll prefer other manufacturers.

How would you guys rank Gigabyte?

They are decent ,good quality etc..I would have no problems buying a Gigabyte board, their dual BIOS is a handy feature.
