Nforce 3 250 ethernet problems

I have a Gigabyte K8NS motherboard. I have found that the on-board ethernet port will disconnect at random interverals. I have tried many different drivers, and have seen a slight improvement with later drivers, but they don't completely fix the issue. The fact that later drivers help seems to point to a driver issue. Any application that uses the network will cause random disconnects (firefox, mIRC) and applications that open lots of sockets (bittorent, any client) or peg the CPU (games) seem to cause the duration between disconnects to become shorter. Has anyone with a K8NS or a board based on a Nforce 3 250 chipset had similar problems? Doing a google search for "disconnects with the nforce 3 ethernet" turns up a lot of people having similar problems.
