i have an XP1600 palomino and i am also getting my epox 8rda+ nforce 2 board tomorrow.
my question is, can the nforce 2 chipset unlock my palo like the tbreds?

i have an unlocking kit but dont want to waste any time if i dont have to do it.

thanks for your replies.

Technically, the TBreds ship unlocked unlike the PaloXPs. The difference is that early motherboards (pre-TBred) do not have the line connected to control the 8x multiplier bit. Not that it can't be done, engineers were just being lazy I guessed.

The XP2100+ has a default multiplier of 13x, which means that the 8x multiplier is set HI. If the board lacks the ability to override this, you could only increase the multiplier. Which is why you see some people talking about certain boards unlocking TBreds. It's not entirely accurate, but effectively it's what happened.

Also worth nothing that PaloMPs are factory unlocked also.
