nForce 150 vs. nForce 250 performance

Hmm, does the 600MHz HT in the nForce 150 make a marked difference in performance compared to the 800Mhz in the 250? I don't need the additional features in the 250 but would like to know if there is such a difference because of the HT factor alone. Also, what relationship does the HT have with CPU speed? The CPU isn't derived off the HT bus is it? Sorry, I'm a A64 newbie.

I don't recall it making that much of a difference in performance, but it was why the K8T800s used to be recommended over them a lot before the nForce3 250 chips came out.

CPU speed = HTT (this is like the FSB, stock is 200--there is a whole different multiplier for the HyperTransport bus itself) * Multiplier; as with any processor.

Oh, why is it HTT and not HT? It is to differentiate from Intel's HT [hyperthreading]? HyperTransport?

Ok, I'm confused. For the longest time now I've been reading HTT=HT and from your post, ts3433, HyperTransport and HTT are different.

No, the HTT refers to a different variable. I forget what the second T stands for, but it's irrelevant. It's merely the "proper" name for the number, instead of FSB (because the Athlon 64 does not have an actual front-side bus; the memory controller is integrated into the chip). If you say "FSB" in the context of an A64 we still know what you're talking about, so don't worry.
