And the Bronco's beat the Titans pretty handily, and should of won yesterday against the Jets. However they also got beat pretty handily by the Colts and Jags.

Did you watch the Colts/Broncos game? If you had, you would know that Josh McDaniel was just as responsible for the Broncos losing as the Colts. They went for it 2 or 3 times on 4th down (every time was completely unnecessary) and ended up turning it over on boneheaded calls. The Broncos rolled up 500+ yards vs. the Colts. So no, the Colts didn't "pretty handily" beat them. The Colts escaped with their lives. Thank GOD for Peyton Manning.

Its called the NFL, any given sunday. The Texans are clearly the best team in the AFC south any way. ANd I agree that the Jags have been mostly beating themselves.

Anything can happen on any Sunday -- everyone knows that. I'm not crowning the Texans yet. They were badly beaten (completely and totally humiliated) by a reeling Cowboys team -- at home -- and barely escaped KC. On paper they do have the most balanced team on both sides of the ball, but that doesn't mean much. I'd say the Colts offense is better and the Titans probably have a defense as good or better than the Texans.

first year in awhile I wouldn't be so sure of that.

its the NFL so anything could happen, but i think Peyton is too good to let his team miss the playoffs. they aren't nearly as good as in previous years, that's for sure... hence why i said Manning is going will them in. He's going to carry the entire team to a degree we haven't seen before.

If they make it, they'll get blown up eary on. Their defense is awful.

Agreed. The team won't go deep into the playoffs and would probably only win a playoff game if it were at home, and that probably won't happen.

Of course, I did say the same thing in 2006 and they won the Super Bowl. I just don't think lightning will strike twice for them.

My big question is, what happens in the post Peyton era? This guy isn't going to last forever. For some reason I just don't see him playing till he's 40 like Favre. And he's not a guy that's going to sit around "mentoring" as comfortably as other guys like Warner and Brunell were/are at their ages.

So I'm guessing they have 3-4 more real good years left before they are done. Maybe they need to sack a season or two and draft a quality QB and get him ramped up :)

As a Titans fan, I hope the Colts suck for a few years. Ha they're due, right?

As a Vols fan, I hope Peyton retires and becomes the next head football coach at the University of Tennessee. ;)

I think Peyton will probably play until he is 38 and maybe 40, depending on his health of course. After that, I think the Colts are in deep trouble. They are going to have to make a big move in the draft to pick a QB high or trade for a quality veteran. If they decide to settle on a mid-round pick or free agent as a QB, I think we'll be back to the mid-80s to mid-90s Colts -- they'll be perennial doormats who might sneak in one or two playoff appearances.

What we DO have going for us, though, is the 1-2 punch of Jim Irsay and Bill Polian. Jim's dad Bob was a horrible owner and Jim has done well with the team. In terms of Bill Polian, he has always been regarded as one of the best talent evaluators and when he retires, his son is being groomed to take over.

So I'm guessing they have 3-4 more real good years left before they are done. Maybe they need to sack a season or two and draft a quality QB and get him ramped up :)

Polian is stubborn. In 2009, what did he do with the Colts #1 pick? He drafted another running back. I am still scratching my head on that one.

In 2010, he drafted a DE with their #1 pick. I am still scratching my head on that one.

He drafted Anthony Gonzalez with one of their #1 picks (either 2007 or 2008; too lazy to check). I do understand why he did it, but damn, they could've used that on defense. The Colts have had no issues finding WR talent through low picks or free agency.

A few years ago, he traded away the Colts #1 pick for the following year in order to move up in the second round and take Tony Ugoh, who was regarded as Tarik Glenn's heir apparent at left tackle. They cut Tony Ugoh earlier this year.

Polian is generally great at evaluating talent, especially in the lower rounds, but man, he has missed on the high picks the last few years.

Yes, but you may have missed what I said in another thread. The Jags do always play the Colts tough. However, the big difference this time was that David Garrard, not Jones-Drew, beat us. I could almost live with MJD beating us, but Garrard beating us is not good. The Colts usually have a strong secondary and it has looked like ass this year. I think that is why I am pessimistic this year.

Meh, you have to be there to understand, it's like the Jags's superbowl for them, that kind of atmosphere. Last time the jags ran all over them but the Colts "D" got there shit together and started stopping the run, they won the SB that year so there is always hope. Hell even the Pat's sorry "D" actually stopped the Ravens last week in the 4th quarter, sometimes units can "gel" during a season so we'll see, if I had to bet right now I would give the Steelers the nod has the best right now..

Correction: he was the liquored up KICKER.

I ran into him at a bar downtown one time. He seemed like an OK guy, if not a bit douchey.

Peyton will probably be in a studio somewhere. The guy is just too good on TV not to accept a role like that.
i think the way he calls plays and runs the offense that he would more than likely become an offensive coordinator when he retires.

Oddly enough, I just don't see him coaching. I might be wrong, but I think he genuinely enjoys being on TV and wants to make that a career.

I've never met him, but I know many who have and they describe him as a genuinely nice guy who is very down-to-earth.

James Harrison threatens to retire because of dirty hit sanction

This guy's an asshole. He was really proud of his dirty hits and now he wants to retire because he got fined. He only knows how to do one thing, hit other guys hard - The kind of guy you want on your defense to be sure, doesn't mean he's not a brainless sack of meat though who's probably hopped up on illegal substances. He just needs to stop making illegal hits, that simple. Doesn't mean you can't hit hard.

Agreed. I hope he does retire. The NFL doesn't need guys like him ending other players' seasons or careers.

I for one welcome the move toward harsher punishment for intentional helmet-to-helmet contact. I watch football for the excitement, strategy, and suspense of the game, not to see guys get life-altering brain damage.

colts playoffs hopes just went down in flames.

Not really. No real troubles on the offensive side of the ball and TONS of WR talent. RB however is concerning. Eldridge is pretty good, you just don't see a lot of him and he's a better blocker than route runner.

Of all the factors dooming the Colts' playoff hopes, this is not nearly the biggest. It is a big loss, but Eldridge can step up or they can play more sets with 4 receivers with Wayne, Garcon, Collie, and White.

The Colts' shakey o-line play, lack of linebacker play, and loss of Sanders and Bullitt will kill them this season.

C'est la vie. Losing Bob Sanders (no surprise) and then his awesome backup (Melvin Bullitt) for the season was more costly.
