oh well, jennings didn't get enough points once the pack D started letting the bears score so I'm just 3-1 this week.

Good week for me, got 12 right against the spread. Forte lost me one of my fantasy games though. :(

Most importantly the Vikes finally won a game! :awe:

What a boneheaded move by the Packers. Let them attempt the field goal and have almost no time left, or let them score a quick TD and get the ball back with a minute left and I believe 2 time outs. Considering how Rogers was throwing the ball, I'd let them score the quick TD. GB gave this game away with all the penalties and the dumb decision at the end there.

just thought i'd toss this out now that the game is over ;)

I'd say the Packers were more responsible for the Packers losing than the Bears. You can't keep dropping easy picks, giving up big returns on special teams, have a FG blocked, and have a crucial fumble. The special teams lack of performance is what killed the Packers.

man.....what a game....not how i expected it, but at least it was exciting. I think the packers are a better team, but no matter how good you are you cant win games when you commit idiotic penalties like they did. the bears won fair and square, but i dont think they are going places this year as i didnt think they looked all that great. they won because of the packers boneheaded plays not because the bears outplayed them. if the packers can get those penalties cleaned up( i have about 0% hope of that based on history) they are a scary good looking team.

Agreed.
Quite honestly I have never seen a team LOSE a game more than that. The Bears didn't really outplay and "win" the game... the Packers just found every conceivable way to NOT win. Just horrible. The penalties... my lord. I don't know what you even say/do as a coach.

The special teams coach just has to be fired too. Goodbye.

Right, Urlacher punching the ball loose and a great recovery had nothing to do with helping win, when Rodgers could have dumped the ball for 3 mins and kicked a FG despite the penalties.

Bears run a D that allows for ball movement banking on big plays or turnovers, or field goals. Rodgers looked amazing I agree, it's just annoying to always hear oh well we lost it they didn't win. Really? It's a W. Peppers blocked a fucking field goal and caused penalties, Hester outran 11 packers.

Even if they let them score a TD you assume they comeback and score to tie? So many coulda woulda shouldas. Packers did some shit no doubt, but playing prognosticator for everything that would have happened differently is asinine.

great jobs by hester, cutler, urlacher, and peppers

its amazing looking at the schedule and realizing that starting 9-1 is pretty feasible for a team I have/had such low hopes for

17 penalties for ~150yrds. 1 of which overturned an INT late in the game.
Special teams kicked to hester TWICE. That's a MISTAKE on the Packers. Period. Sure it was hester's return for a TD... but he should have never been given the chance.

I'm not saying the Bears did nothing to win. They played as well as they needed. The Packers COMPLETELY set the table for them over and over and over.

As for the letting them score the TD at the end, I didn't really mention that. But I will say it was the Packers only HOPE and PRAYER of extending the game. They should have just let them walk right in. And if the Bears had a brain too, they would have hiked it.... and stood there and NOT run it in, take the knee and let the clock run down to kick the FG.

Wow.

Okay, so the Packers could have had a much better chance at winning had they allowed the Bears to score a TD there. Seriously, what were they thinking? Which would you rather have:

- Down by 7, 1:30 to go, one timeout
- Down by 3, :05 to go, no timeouts

Getting a TD on a kickoff return is ridiculously unlikely. It doesn't happen that often. When was the last time an endgame lateral-frenzy worked anyway? With 5 seconds left, it negated the advantage of only being down by 3 anyway, since there was no time to get in position for a field goal.

I don't know if "step back from the line and allow the offense to score a TD" is in the Packers' defensive playbook, but it should have been. I know "step back from the line and don't score a TD" is in the Bears' playbook - they should have taken a knee there and kicked the FG. End result of the game was the same, but they sure would have looked dumb if they had made a TD and gave the Packers enough time to tie it up and possibly win in overtime.

Oh and genius move by the Bears of just having Cutler throw it downfield and milk the pass interference penalties. That is a completely legitimate strategy - they know how undisciplined the Packers are, so why not? Free 1st downs! Free yards! Some people are saying the Packers beat themselves; I'd say instead that they just allowed the Bears to beat them using silly strategies like drawing penalties. The Bears weren't too proud to exploit that weakness.

That's a good point.

LOL, the Jags suck and he won't help. The Jags are my second favorite team to make fun of (after, of course, the Pats).

I'm still trying to figure out why Jacksonville, Florida has a football team, but Los Angeles doesn't and neither does Salt Lake City.
