Yea yea, there have been predictions for the year...its time for week 1 action!!!!
Oakland at New England - Raiders will be better this year, but won't be polished enough in their first game to take down the current champs. This game will be a good testing ground for the new defensive coordinator & Bill Bellichek. New England wins, 27-17
Chicago at Washington - Ugh, could a game be more anti-climactic? Bears won't get anywhere with that QB, Washington did nothing but lose players after a bad year last year...whoever wins, the fans lose this game. Washington wins, 9-7
Cincinnati at Cleveland - Carson Palmer starts things off right against a reeling Browns team. Crennell can't work his magic that fast. Cincy wins, 24-10
Denver at Miami - The holistic healer is still on the sideline, the rookie RB is in his first game, and who is even catching balls that Gus Ferrote attempts to throw? Denver wins, 31-6
Houston at Buffalo - Carr to Johnson is sure to be one of the top hookups for years, and Dominick Davis is the real deal, but the smothering Bills defense will ease J.P. Losman's growing pains. Bills win, 13-10
New Orleans at Carolina - This will be a good year for Carolina, assuming they can cure the injury bug that plagued them last year. However, I'm not a religious man, but SOMEONE has to be on New Orleans' side this week, so somehow the Saints will win it, 17-14
Jets at Kansas City - Finally, a good game! So many questions....will Kansas City's revamped defense be the real deal? Can Priest Holmes stay on the field? Is Pennginton fully back from his injury? How much does Ty Law help an already strong Jets defense? This one is tough to call, but I see Kansas City pulling it out, 24-17
Seattle at Jacksonville - Last year, the Seahawks were picked by many to represent the NFC in the superbowl. This obviously didn't happen. Seattle returns its main starters, and bolsters the receiving corps, but can they hold on to the ball? Can the defense improve? Is Jimmy Smith reaching his last legs? Another close one, but I'm giving the edge to Seattle, 14-10
Tampa Bay at Minnesota - The Vikings get a good defense to test their Moss-less offense against, but not much of an offense to test their brand-spankin' new defense. Vikings win easily, 21-6
Tennessee at Pittsburgh - The Steelers might not pull last year's 15-1 record, with injuries to Staley & Bettis, and the loss of Burress, and Big Ben coming back down to Earth, but Tennessee had to cut the entire team to get under the cap, and basically has folded this season. Steelers win in an unexciting game, 10-3
Arizona at Giants - Kurt Warner lets fly against a defense that was strangely stout during the preseason, and Eli Manning faces up against a Cards defense that is better than many give them credit for. Not exactly a playoff preview, Cardinals win it, 17-14
Dallas at San Diego - BIAS ALERT - Dallas' defense is much stronger through free agency and the draft, and while the offense isn't exactly the '99 Rams, it will improve on last year. San Diego still houses the best RB in football, and many of the same starters from last year. A real test for both teams, does Dallas' spending spree pay off, and can the Chargers repeat? I'm goin with Dallas, 20-14
Green Bay at Detroit - NFC North battle. Favre is getting older, but he's still got a rifle of an arm and good weapons on defense. Harrington has a slew of receivers and a great young back. Both offenses will flourish, so which defense can hold a little tighter? Detroit, 28-24
St Louis at San Fran - Rams have a good offense. 49ers have nothing good except Eric Johnson and Julian Peterson. Slaughterhouse scene, Rams win 34-14
Indianapolis at Baltimore - Possible AFC Championship preview. Colts have the best offense in football, and made a few good moves on defense. Ravens have the best defense in football, and made a few good moves on both sides of the ball. The Colts win this battle of the titans, 17-9
Philadelphia at Atlanta - Possible NFC Championship preview. The Eagles lost a few good players, and their usual injury bug has already hit #2 receiver Todd Pinkston. Maybe cutting Freddie Mitchell wasn't so great an idea after all, at least T.O. is back. Both teams have great defenses, Falcons have a better running game, Eagles have a better passing game. Hard one to call, but my bias is making me go with Atlanta, 17-14
