NFL Players who's careers are ending this season

So many players are falling off the map now, probably never to return beyond a backup role... some are questionable, some are extremely likely.

I can't imagine the bears taking another chance on Grossman being "the" guy... I think they have to recognize that the Grossman dice roll ends in failure.

Chad Pennington... maybe at some point he can recover... but as of the last 3 years he just doesnt have the durability to be a franchise QB in the NFL.

Peerless Price... will he ever be a star reciever again? I think no... he'll never have the shot at that no 1 position ever again... and even if he did... I think he'd blow it.

Patrick Ramsey, he doesnt have the composure to be the star QB the skins need... but maybe that's another trade between the Jets and the Skins, Ramsey for Pennington... who knows... but more likely he'll be at best another Gus Ferrotte starting for teams that have no decent QB.

Who else?

we'll see if he can come back from his injury... Arizona is where NFL stars go to die... thats for sure. But there's still hope if he can pull off a good rest of the season.

Josh McCown sure as hell isn't going to win the starting spot yet.

Pennington was pretty good his first year or two. I think he was injured longer than he's admitted to.

Price is a decent #2 receiver. He was overpaid in ATL for the stats he produced and understand why he was cut, but I think part of the problem was that Vick can't throw. Vick is too busy trying to scramble and make plays himself instead of relying on/trusting in his teammates. I think if ATL had a better O-line that a lot of their problems would go away. Whenever Vick was out, Price's stats went up. Their backup QB's can't scramble, so they get rid of the ball faster.

Ramsey, the local radio stations are always cheering him on. Don't know much about WAS since I just live here, and ignore them :)

Of course, I'm a Cards fan so I should go back to crying in my corner... and praying McCown can get the ball to Boldin/Fitz more since JJ was a bust (Although they too could use an O-line upgrade...)

I think Ramsey can still turn it around with a different team.

He gets drafted and holds out...loses practice time. Was starting to get Spurriers offense then he leaves. Gibbs in. Sign Brunell for $40+ million. Back to the bench. Brunell sucks and Gibbs finally grudgingly puts Ramsey in. This season, Ramsey has to be named starter because Brunell sucked so bad last year but you know Gibbs is just looking for an excuse to put Brunell back in. Not to mention Ramsey's future is already screwed when they drafted Campbell. Ramsey gets knocked out and Gibbs gets his chance to put Ramsey back in.

With all the crap he's put up with, I'd like to see what he could do in a different system. Maybe Ramsey for Harrington trade.

Rodney Harrison. He's 32 and he just completely blew out his knee - tough to come back from that.

hey when Rattay has time to throw he is a good QB
it just his O-line is hurt and they should try to run the ball more!!

i would rather the 49ers draft a WR like Braylon Edwards and give Rattay another chance this year, if they still suck they could draft Matt Leinert next year

Pennington is done, but give the man his due. Do you have any idea what a torn rotator cuff is and how extensive the surgery is to repair it? It takes MUCH more time than they gave him to heal. With a second one, yeah, his career is probably over. He may very well come back as a backup, however, if he ACTUALLY LETS IT HEAL.

Grossman hasn't had a chance. Many guys have injury problems and then come back from them to have productive careers. That being said, if I'm the Bears, I'm telling my team to lose so we can get Matt Leinert. No, you can't really do that, but I wouldn't coach as well as I could.

Price was never good, he was just fast. You make him the #2 on a team with a GOOD posession receiver (Roy Williams, Andre Johnson, etc.) and you can get production out of him again.

Patrick Ramsey got fvcked. If they would just give him two years alone to run an offense and actually SUPPORT him, he COULD be alright. He has the physical abilities, he just needs to learn things. Some people never learn, but I'd give him more time than they're giving him.

I'm a Rams fan, so I love Kurt, but I don't think he'll ever come back to where he was because of all the sacks. He's jumpy. And yes, JJ Arrington is a bust. Look on the bright side: New York wasted a 1st rounder on Ron Dayne. BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!

Joey Harrington sucks. Always will suck. Someone put him out of his misery.

Rattay is better than anyone gives him credit for, and while I don't think he can take anyone all the way to the Superbowl, I would have drafted someone else if I were the 9ers.

I wish the Rams had drafted... I don't know... ANYONE except Alex Barron. I also wish we could draft at least SOMEONE with 10 picks that is worth a damn. I'm pretty sure that 80% of our picks from last year are complete and utter busts. The exceptions are our new FB Hedgecock, and our new backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

I'm sorry, but there's not a nice way to put this. You're an idiot. Look at those around him. How can you possibly say he's not terrible?

Do you know what he did to his knee? ACL tear + MCL tear + PCL tear. He's 32. You probably can't ever come back from that injury at 30. Even if he does, he'll be injury-prone the rest of his career, and he'll DEFINITELY not be able to cut like he could before.

Holding out... the worst thing any rookie (and 9/10ths of all players) can do.

Have you seen his stats? He's been around for 3 years. The training wheels are off.

Yeah that's the one that immediately came to mind for me. You could tell when they were carting him off that he knew it was the last time he would play.

Pennington actually had a good year a couple years ago before his arm got hurt & the Jets had a fire-sale on their players...remember the Washington RedJets? lol

Rattay is a good QB. He plays behind a banged up line, has WRs that can't create seperation, his best target is going to miss 2 of his first 3 seasons, and the running game is nonexistant. And like mentioned above, the 49ers could of done a lot better with that draft pick and it was wasted on smith.

It doesn't matter though, the Op asked who's nfl starting careers are gonna end at the end of this season and Tim Rattay's starting job for 49ers is gonna end with Alex Smith $24million guaranteed next year. I don't see Rattay getting a second chance to be a starting QB anywhere else in the league.
