I just got the PC game, and at the loading screen with the bar at the bottom, the game crashes.

Well, it doesnt crash, but just freezes at the screen. I can move my mouse and its like my desktop, since i can click icons on my desktop, BUT the picture of Donavon Mcnabb is still there. I cant alt-tab out of the game (i think as an online anti-cheat protection) but the only way for me to get out of this is to press the standby button on my keyboard and re-login.

:( anyone know what the problem could be?

I have reinstalled 6 times. I thought it might have been my DVD drive having problems installing cleanly, so i took a CD burner out of my other computer, put it into this one just to install. I want it on this PC since its my gaming computer.

Noope, i dont have zone alarm.

The crash happens before i try to go online. It happens right on the screen before the menu even pops up. after the EA Sports 'its in the game' videos.

Hello Kevin:

I read your post and like you and many others i have the exact same problem, tried updating my graphic card driver with no difference...

Checked several forums with no luck, i was wondering if you've heard of a fix...

Thanks;

Hi again;

Just found a no cd crack(Madden 06) on emule and tried it, it gives some errors messages when installing it but it solve the freezing of the Mcnabb picture intro and then it's game on...:)

I didn't had time to play and check everything but it seems to work well.

If someone wants the patch, i could email it (2437kb)if it's not too big to send.

Hope it helps;
Guy

this is a common bug with the PC version, the Music folder needs to be renamed Music1 instead of Music...

That seriously is the solution to the Madden screen freezing guys. It's a known Madden PC bug since 2004. Rename the folder in your Madden folder called Music to Music1. Do not change the in game directory path though.

Hi again;

Tried renaming the music folder to Music1 first and it didn't worked for me, the screen(Mcnabb pic intro) was still freezing after i clicked on the "play" option, i still have madden (pc) 04 and 05 and never got that bug with these versions...

Try turning down hardware acceleration in your sound tabs under msconfig, it may solve your problem. Also, close all your background stuff like AV/firewall/etc. to see if they are blaocking it. My firewall was blocking me from playing online the first couple times I tried.

Hi;

The no cd patch that i got on emule doesn't really work as a no cd option for Madden 06 and contains a trojan(AdClicker-BA)which is a low risk one that an antivirus software should easily delete without affecting anything,(»us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id..
nfo updated: 23.06.04)

But for me it got rid of the freezing issue at the start.Then i tried to uninstall madden and then re-install by mounting each cd image with Daemon tool(freeware virtual dvd-rom) and to my surprise, it worked without a bug and never got the freezing problem at the start, without having to apply any no cd patch or crack...

I remember that the first time i tried to install madden 06, it was by burning the 3 cds and cd1 is 804 mb, so to burn it on a 700 mb cd you have to finalize the cd,(mesg displayed with Nero burning sofware),whatever that means, to make it fit on 1 cd.

Maybe burning a 804 mb image into a 700mb cd makes it burn some files or file incorreclty which could cause the freezing issue(and cd1 is where most of the madden files are located),by installing it with Daemon tool, the size of each image is not a factor,maybe it helped to install madden cd1 correctly, it is very useful and faster because you don't have to burn any cd to then install games on your pc, just mount the image file(a bin,iso file etc.) from the folder.

In a way it acts as a no cd patch and you don't have to use your physical cd-dvd-rom and put cd1 in it each time you want to play...

Sorry for the long post,just wanted to clarify some things about that no cd patch instead of sending that file to everyone and getting someone angry because the patch didn'T work . I guess a real no cd patch will come sooner or later...

Yeah, apparently real football games crash at start-up, too.
