For years I'd laugh at how Chris Berman pronounced the NFC North division as something that sounds more like 'Norris' instead of 'North'. Today I heard him say it very clearly and had to finally see if my ears were playing tricks on me. Thankfully Wikipedia came to my rescue for the umpteenth time and explained it..
"ESPN sportscaster Chris Berman often refers to this division as the "NFC Norris," because of its geographical similarity to the NHL's old Norris Division, now called the Central Division."
Should've figured much earlier on that our planet's unchallenged nickname giver was just being "clever" once again.
