Im going to be building a new sytem hopefully within 2 weeks. Ive been at it for months looking at hardware. I cant go for a real expensive mobo. Ive decided on a athlon 64 3400 newcastle (socket 754). Ive narrowed it down to the abit nf8 or abit kv8 pro. So I guess its basicaly nvidia vs via. But I have hardly any info on the nf8. Im not even sure if it has monitoring software with it. It doesnt have that uguru thing the kv8 has. I want the nvidia chipset more but I have no clue what the nf8 performs like. I could go dfi or soltek but the lanparty is just 20 dollars to much for me. And the soltek, Im just not going to buy it lol. and socket 939 is to much for me to....So what do you guys think? Oh ya, I wont be overclocking and my primary use should be gaming.

NF8 or kv8 pro?

Thanks!

i'd go with the nforce board. as far as the monitoring software, you could always just download some monitoring programs.

Dont most mobo makers GENERALY include some sort of monitoring software though? I find that strange. There is a cd that comes with it....And where could I dl these monitoring programs? Thanks!

oh, i meant something like Motherboard Monitor and the like. Its true that some mobos ship with diag software. Mine came with some PC Probe thing although I'm not sure how much I can trust it when the temps on MBM5 are always about 3-4C higher. I just average the two 🙂.
