Everytime I turn off the computer, the printer won't work. Nither on paralle port nor USB. I have to keep on rebooting both the computer and printer, and at some "unknown" point, it will work again. So far I haven't found any particular action that can fix the problem beside rebooting again and again.

I'm sure it's not the printer's problem coz I can still printer from my laptop whenever I wish, no problem at all.

All I can figure out is there are some problems when communicating with the port when printing.

My setting:

NF7S v2.0
1G kingston pc3200 ram
Mxtor HD 10G and 80G
ATI 9600 pro 256M
windows XP Pro

I really appreciate any help ....

BTW, I have all the lastest ABIT drivers and CMOS

You might try downloading the latest printer drivers. If they don't fix the problem, try removing the printer in Device Manager, then plugging it in (use USB--there are all sorts of potential issues with legacy ports that would best be avoided while trying to diagnose the problem), letting Windows detect it and using the new drivers.

thanks!

I did all you suggested. No go :(

However, I did find that I have to plug in USB to "active" the printer then turn it off then on, the printer will work in this way. so... strange...
Could that be a problem on the mother board?

thanks!

Do you have problems with any other USB devices? If not, I'd say it's probably software. If you have another system around and it's networked w/ this one, you could always hook the printer up to it and share it and set it as the default on this system. Or you could backup everything and reinstall Windows (might work)... neither option is really satisfactory.
