I just put together a system using:

Abit NF7-S Motherboard
Athlon XP 2800
36.7 GB Raptor hard drive
Plextor 708A DVD-RW drive

I can't get the computer to recognize the Raptor. I went into the BIOS and made sure the "Serial ATA Controller" was enabled.

I used the SATA 1 port for the hard drive and the secondary channel for the DVD/CD drive. If I use the SATA/EIDE adapter that came with the motherboard it still doesn't work.

If I use serial ATA, should I put the CD Drive on the primary channel?

The Raptor isn't dead because I can here it spinning.

The SATA interface on NF2 boards are not on the southbridge, and thus they need seperate drivers to work.

Are you trying to install the OS on this drive? If so, you will have to provide Windows with a driver during boot so that it can recognise the drive before it starts to install anythign (I think in one of the blue screens it asks if you have RAID or SCSI driverson a floppy). Otherwise all you have to do is get the drivers for the SATA chipset (most probably its on your driver CD).

Yeah, I found in another forum, that you have to install the "Serial ATARaid" drivers for it to work. I did that and it works great.
