Ok, I'm going to get killed for asking this question but for someone that is relatively new to overclocking (not computers), how is it possible to push DDR400 (200 Mhz stock) to insane speeds of 250+ Mhz???

If you had that FSB, you could easily lower your CPU multiplier right? Or is the FSB on the CPU completely different from the FSB on the primary memory?

And if it was possible to overclock the RAM to 250+ Mhz with the DFI Infinity Ultra, would it be possible to do that do Value RAM ?? like Corsair value RAM? and then my next question... would my Athlon 2400+ Mobile be more stable at higher speeds with the DFI motherboard?

Moving to VA this week so the MB will arrive just in time for me to install it or maybe not even that.

whoa you have your mobile at 3.0 ghz on air cooling???

i highly doubt you could do that with value ram...

unless your value ram happened to have bh-5's on them :) and you vmodded your board to get more vdimm voltage

hehehe... i've heard of 2700 on air... i think 3 ghz is pushing it ;)

then again some people are able to hit 4 ghz on p4's on air cooling ...

so it might be possible but you'll need a magical chip...

i actually got my chip today and my air cooler is in to pick up at the PO...

can't wait for your results! :)

thanks!

my board is in but being held at the fedex station... i called to see if i could go pick it up (not due for delivery until tomorrow)..

someone's supposed to call me back!

you'll definitely be using a better cooler than me (air wise)... so i wouldn't be surprised if you got better air results than me...

i'm still searching for a cheap prommy mounting kit so i can put this thing under phasechange...

i'm just glad that these chips only cost between 74 to 100 so gettingi another one is a lot cheaper than getting an A64 chip :)

actually... by selling off my A64 chip, i've paid for the cpu, board, and cooler on my new setup... man...

Only bad thing is that I wont be able to use the SP97 or my motherboard because I didnt buy that neo backplate and newegg doesnt have it. Its ok though because I'll be out of town for a couple of weeks anyway and will be moving the day it gets here. Guess I'll have to order it from jab-tech.com or something. At least I'll get to install my new ROM drives that I ordered.

You can dremel it. Check in the dfi forum at amdforums.com for information. I want a new toaster signature. I had one at 240fsb. I need 8 hours on prime 95 to get it and a 3dmark 2001 score. I turned it off this morning and it was at 7 hours and 45 minutes doh! Priming now!!!

The DFI Lan party is now $140. I think that it becomes the best buy now, the wrapped IDE cables, the extra nic, and Front X definetly make up for the cost increase. And thats not even the beggening of the goodies they pack in there. NTM, the box is just soooooooooo nice, and packaged sooooooo well.

We don't care that you work for DFI, the Ultra Infinity is the best deal in nForce2 boards at the moment.

I agree, with its overclocking reputation and nice price, the infinity comes out on top. Mine should be here tomorrow.

What kind of cooler would be best for the DFI NFII Ultra Infinity? I'm fixing to order this motherboard but I'm not sure which heatsink to get. I prefer getting a Thermalright since I have the slk800A on my current machine and I love it!

TIA

Both the SLK-947u: link and the SLK-900a: link fit without modification, I think. I can't tell you for sure, because I have the 900a, which doesn't mount directly to the motherboard.

I'd like to get that 947U but I dunno if I can mount it on the DFI NFII Ultra Infinity.

okay warning guys...

i got my board.... flashed it with the beta 4/30/04 bios released today...

i don't want to post a link to it so that people won't be tempted to flash it..

it seems to be hit or miss with a lot of people...

there are those that had success and there are those like me who got a bad flash and no longer have a working board :(

well... i have a dead 8rda+ from march of last year!!! :)

so i'm gonna have to do a hotswap with this bios and go back to the 11/27 bios and then try again for the 1/31 beta bios... no more 4/30 beta until it's official!

argh... headache headache headache...
