NF7 & ethernet port problem

I have an Abit NF7 rev.2 and am having trouble activating my ethernet port on the mobo. I just got DSL and would like to use it with an ethernet cable rather than the USB I am using now. Here's the problem. When I have my USB cable connected, under device manager, it shows I have a network card. When I unplug the USB cable to install the ethernet cable, it disappears. When I plug in the EN cable, device mgr shows I have no netcard. I have reloaded the ethernet driver for the mobo several times hoping to activate it to no avail. Any suggestions or do I need to stay with USB? Thanks for any help.

Just a note for anyone that may be experiencing a similar difficulty with their ethernet port on their mobo. Check your BIOS settings! It may be disabled there and easily turned on. Such was my case. All is funtioning now.
