I have an msi k8n Neo Platinum 754 for athlon xp 64 chip. For some strange reason, my bios keeps detecting my DVD+-RW drive as only being DMA 33 not 66 as it needs to be. Anyone else experience this problem? I have changed cables and even used the same cable to connect my dvd drive to VIA chipset board. I am thinking this may be a problem with the Nforce's compatibility with my DVD drive? I have the latest Nforce chipset drivers and 512mb ddr ram (like that would have anything to do with it). My power supply is more than enough at 420 watts OCZ Powerstream 420 which has adjustable rails with all the necessary rail requirements. If I need to put more info, please let me know. I believe the harddrive is running properly at dma 100 which is it's potential. (western digital 80gb drive).

try the 5.03 drivers instead of the 5.10

i had lan issues until i used the 5.03...

the guy at dfiforum told me that 5.03 is the latest "official" supported by this board

That's the 5.03 driver for nforce chipset drivers? Where can I find those? It says that what I have matches what's on the Nvidia website. Unless 5.03 is a huge step back, then I am not sure about using them, but I guess it's not a bad idea. I wasn't having any problems with the old nforce drivers, just updated to stay ahead. Thanks for the input.

Nope, still having the same problem. I think it might be the bios, but I am not sure. I know this drive works in dma66 because I used it in another comp with a VIA. Maybe it's the BIOS that is having problems. That or the motherboard itself. I am going to try to use this drive on a Neo2 platinum to see if it works there or not, but it's still not the Neo Platinum so it might work fine. I also found a forum dedicated to MSI boards only so I am going to register and try there too.

Well, the problem is fixed. It ended up being that the 2.5 ide drivers work better than even the latest Nforce 5.10 drivers which include ide 2.6. I installed the 2.5 drivers and restarted my computer. Tried playing a movie, worked fine without slowing down or skips. I am now burning a disk @ 40x to see if it burns in less than 15mins which I am pretty sure it will.
