OK, so i purchased a BFG 6800gt oc 3 months ago, and have had to replace it 6 times only to find out that the problem has never really been with the card itself. The first card i bought, would not run at the BFG overclock speeds of 370 and 1.0 i had to downclock to a core speed of 345 to make it run stable. I replaced the card, and same thing. So i ventured to other posibilities and replaced my mother board with a chaintech vnf3-250, and still, the same problem. Replaced the card again, and same problem. So i purchased new memory and a new power supply. That didnt help either. I upped the core voltage and still nothing. I purchased a DFI Lanparty UT nf3-250, still, the same problem. I then decided to go all out, and buy a Gigabyte GA-k8nsnxp becuase i have always had nothing but good luck with Gigabyte boards. Well, that didnt fix the problem. So, 2 days ago, i borrowed a buddy of mines Asus K8V deluxe and installed it in my PC, with all the same components. To my surprise, not only does it work, but i am overclocked to 418 and 1.10. Now the one thing that all of the boards that didnt work had in common was the nf3-250 chipset. I have found multiple people with similar problems in forums, but no one seems to have a solution that works, and i dont think anyone has noticed the correlation between the nf3-250 chipset and the 6800 series cards. I have tried disabling fastwrite and that makes it run stable, but it decreases performance by almost 15% and makes all the textures look horrible. Also i have used almost every set of nforce drivers and graphics drivers that i could find for the last year almost. My temps are well within operating range at 27 for the motherboard, and 56 @ idle for the 6800. Unfortunately, as much as i love nVidia, apparently they are above us feeble consumers, because they dont offer any kind of contact info for support. I am just wondering if anyone has noticed the problem, and if so, what is nvidia doing to fix it. Also, i have updated my 6800 bios and that didnt help either. any help would be appreciated.
