Second on the Akasa Amber over the Nexus.

Personally, can't find any canadian distributors, but check with Sidewinder for shipping prices to Canada (listed as an option in the checkout page). 120mm Akasa Amber will run you about $14 CA as opposed to around $20 CA for the Nexus at ncix.com.

The akasa fans are good, but not as quiet as the nexus, even at the same speeds. (for the 120mm versions).

I've got both and while i'm happy with the akasa fans i would say that if you're going to be undervolting them to cut down on noise then you should go for the nexus to start with.

I do not believe that NeXus are cherry picked Yate Loon fans, as we have been told.

NeXus fans are just Yate Loons with a resistor added to the 12V feed wire.

The resistor is added along with severals of dollars :p

Go Yate Loon and the money saved can be put into a $10 Sunbeam Rheobus.

Google reviews of the Akasa fans. Better yet read the SPCR thread concerning Akasa vs NeXus ;)

I realized some will want to fight to be right, so I'll just let SPCR do the talking..

You can get them at NCIX.COM. They're based in BC and I have ordered from them on several occasions. Great service.

If you're going to get them from NCIX, follow this "specials" page. It's a link from SPCR, hence the affilate code.

ncix can get one to your house in 2 days... But before you buy, go to silentpcreview.com - they recently had a banner for "silent devices at Ncix" (or something similar) which linked back to NCIX, and gave special pricing (50% off!) on that Nexus fan... I think I bought 3 120mm Nexus fans for C$29.

One thing to remembeer about the Nexus fans...they don't push much air under static conditions. If you hold the fan in your hand it works fine, but once you put a "load" in front of it, cfm drops to nothing...I have some I will sell you if you are really looking for a Nexus.

I would still reccommend the Delta Tri-Blade EFB low speed fans over Nexus or Akasa fans anyways. Sure, the others may be quieter, but the only way they are moving any air is if they are blowing into a case with absolutely 0 wires. The Deltas definitely give you some more leeway and IMO, are the best silent operation fans to go for. However, I'm sure the db tradeoff is one of personal opinion.
