This is the WORST phone I've used in years, the digitizer is a cheap piece of crap,, seems it's a years old unit, and loses it's calibration frequently, we're talking 4 hard resets today...
Maybe you just have a lemon? Why not put Google's warranty to the test and get a brand new replacement?

The $15 data plan is unlimited, but it is only for feature phones. What I'm wondering is if I can just upgrade my plan to unlimited 3G on my current phone for $15, then stick my sim card into the N1. I'm wondering if ATT will notice the switch and then charge me extra.

They noticed when my friend tried it. I still :D thinking about his reaction.

What do you mean you don't understand the point? Its got a bit better hardware, and Sense, which the vast majority of people consider superior to stock Android.

Its a better Nexus One that's actually sold in Verizon's stores and might get worthwhile advertising. Assuming VZW gets both, I foresee the Incredible absolutely dominating the Nexus One in sales.

The Incredible outselling the N1, ain't saying much...

Google.com/phone

Click on help then "I have a problem" I suspect there'll be a class action over it. There are threads with thousands of responses and complaints

And just wait till the sales volume ramps up...

Interesting. I have not had this happen a single time. In fact the only notable issue either my wife or I have since we've gotten the phones was a single spontaneous reboot I got one day; otherwise the hardware has been flawless. It must be an HTC quality control problem. It does appear to be the most-starred "defect" on code.google.com that is Nexus One-specific so it has to be getting at least some attention.

Just realized. I think Google did this(put the Nexus One on AT&T really quickly unannounced) in response to Apple suing HTC.

I've had the phone for a month now and used it every day. I've never had a hard reset, touch screen issues, or any of the issues of which you speak. Maybe you just have a defective phone? Maybe a significant percent of them being released are defective, but I don't think it's accurate to believe every one of them has these problems. I paid a ton of money for this thing. If it wasn't virtually perfect, I would be pissed.

T-Mobile gives you a $20 discount if you aren't on a subsidized contract. I've been considering ending my ATT contract and getting the T-Mobile N1 unsubsidized to take advantage of the cheaper plan. Are you sure you aren't already on the "correct" plan :)?

AFAIK ATT doesn't have the same discount for off contract phones, which is why I'm wary of getting the ATT N1.

This is what I did. Dumped my iphone 3g and my at&t contract and went to t-mobile with an unsubsidized N1. Happy enough so far with t-mobile's coverage. The discount is great, especially after i sell my iphone and start saving money over the cost of the iphone contract after the first year.

I'm torn. I could get the nexus one for AT&T and have known good coverage (I have used AT&T for a long time now and it works great in my area) or I could get it for T-mobile and not know how good the coverage is, but get a good discount on my monthly bill.

Decisions, decisions.

Correct answer is C: Get the Nexus One on Verizon.

If you're in an area that gets good T-Mobile coverage, T-Mobile is the hands down best choice.

Get the N1 on T-Mobile. If coverage is good in your area keep it, if coverage is bad in your area, send it back. No company has better rates on plans than T-Mobile. They also have double the data cap size of Verizon and AT&T(10GB vs 5GB). T-Mobile also lets you make calls and use data at the same time, can't do that on Verizon. Current 3G phones including the Nexus One will work with T-Mobile's next gen "4G" network when it is deployed as well. No other company is going to have that kind of compatibility.

Yeah, but there's a $45 restocking fee. I'm wondering if one could buy a g1 locally, use it for 2 days to test out the tmobile coverage, return it, and then buy an N1 if the coverage was good enough...

The cheapest non-contract t-mobile price is $30 less per month than the comparable verizon plan

I agree with ya here. When I had my N1, I was amazed at how much I was getting for only $50 a month. I was getting a ton of minutes with unlimited texts and data. The downside of course was that 3G service was spotty and it couldn't penetrate through the building I work in at all (though all carriers have a problem here).

I'm using Verizon solely for their coverage and I'm paying $40 a month more for that over what I paid for T-Mobile.

I was a long time verizon customer. They are more expensive, have worse customer service, and screwed me over with bad charges. I'll never use them again.

Haha, I sent an email to Google on the day this was announced asking why they weren't advertising this as a Rogers/Bell/Telus phone and if it would indeed work on Belus, this was their reply today:
