Looks like Google went ahead and released the Nexus One compatible with AT&T 3G bands (and Rogers for Canada). Looks like the only option is to buy the phone for full price as of now. Anyone gonna buy one?

I had one for T-Mobile but decided to switch back to Verizon since their coverage is better. The N1 for Verizon is rumored to launch sometime within the next 2 weeks.

Edit: Sprint announced that the Nexus One will also be available "soon". Guess Google isn't messing around and I was completely wrong about Sprint not getting this phone.

That's cool. I thought Verizon was supposed to come first. Guess there's no reason for AT&T customers to buy Iphones anymore :p.

Typing this on my N1 it's going back for a refund, 3 hard resets yesterday because of the digitizer.

When it hits a major carrier people are gonna be pissed

Ah, forgot about the Incredible. Might give that a go next actually.

i think im the only person who doesnt understand the point of that phone. its a tweaked version (more ram, 8MP camera, etc) of the nexus one, but with sense ui on it. plus, im sure it'll be cheaper than a nexus one...

Aside from hardware differences, I think the main difference is that Verizon will probably actually carry the incredible in their stores whereas Google will sell the Nexus One online just like they do for the other carriers.

Of course I could be totally wrong so who really knows?

I'm currently on a basic $39 dumb phone plan with ATT. My phone is 3G capable, but I don't have the $15 3G data as part of my plan. If I got the N1, would I have to add the $30 3G plan, or do you guys think I could use skate by with the $15 data plan?

I doubt you could do much with a limited data plan.

Probably cheaper to pay your ETF and get on Verizon.

The $15 data plan is unlimited, but it is only for feature phones. What I'm wondering is if I can just upgrade my plan to unlimited 3G on my current phone for $15, then stick my sim card into the N1. I'm wondering if ATT will notice the switch and then charge me extra.

I'm doing something similar on T-Mobile. It's working now, but I don't count on it lasting forever. It's entirely possible that at some point they will identify all Nexus One IMEIs and force them onto the "correct" smart phone plan. There's no way to know if ATT will do this from the get-go or not.

T-Mobile gives you a $20 discount if you aren't on a subsidized contract. I've been considering ending my ATT contract and getting the T-Mobile N1 unsubsidized to take advantage of the cheaper plan. Are you sure you aren't already on the "correct" plan :)?

AFAIK ATT doesn't have the same discount for off contract phones, which is why I'm wary of getting the ATT N1.

This is pretty cool. I wonder if you'll have to pay the full amount for the phone with VZW as well?

What do you mean you don't understand the point? Its got a bit better hardware, and Sense, which the vast majority of people consider superior to stock Android.

Its a better Nexus One that's actually sold in Verizon's stores and might get worthwhile advertising. Assuming VZW gets both, I foresee the Incredible absolutely dominating the Nexus One in sales.

Oh, I am pretty darn sure I am not on the "correct" plan. ;) I pay a total of ~$70 per month for my two N1s on a family plan with unlimited data. I am on a grandfathered voice/text plan, I have a 12% discount for being a member of AAA, and the kicker is that I pay $10 per phone for "wireless web" unlimited data (supposed to be limited to feature phones, but if you add it to your account it will currently work with unlocked non-T-Mo-branded phones of any type). I don't have a ton of voice minutes or texts, but with my usage patterns plus Google Voice, I don't need them.

If ATT allows you to pull the same trick I am pulling with T-Mo's wireless web, then the unsubsidized price will suddenly seem a lot more reasonable.

This is the WORST phone I've used in years, the digitizer is a cheap piece of crap,, seems it's a years old unit, and loses it's calibration frequently, we're talking 4 hard resets today...

Maybe you got a bad unit? I don't remember having any hardware problems when I had my Nexus One.
