nexus noise absortion material

Ya know I can`t find the article but I bet somebody else will....

It stated that the use of materials to absorb noice inside a PC also had a negative effect on the cooling and airflow...
It stated that those very materials used to absorb noise will also absorb and retain heat inside your PC!!

Have a good day!!

The use of good fans and a fan controller is far better than the use of noise absorbing materials!!

Just my opinion!!🙂

I just ordered some from endpcnoise.com yesterday to line the two fan muffles i'm making
for the PSU and 92mm exhaust fan. The rest will line the Lian Li PC-7 that's in the middle of being modded. Compleation about three weeks away and will post the results. The muffles are approx. 5"x7"x6" and baffeled.
NeXus is supposed to be the best out there for our purposes. The P-180 is already insulated for sound. My Lian Li is nekid on the inside. A fully modded Sunbeam fan bus will be in use.
The uber-bright 5mm LEDs have been changed out for dim 3mm LEDs. Mounted in a stock
LL bay cover to match the rest of the case.

The NeXus came highly recommended from a trusted source. It is thinner and better than AcustiFoam.

Galvanized

Note: Right now the epoxy rosin fumes from the fiberglass work on these muffles is getting too me

lol those fumes have already gotten to ya man 🙂 About the Nexus dampening foam...its great stuff, but as stated above will do very little until you tackle noisy components first. Then you may acheive what I call "Dead Air" which I cherish in my office. 😉

I see the PaxMate, Spire and other products as a useful material that provides various benefits when applied sparingly.

For instance, you would like to reduce hard drive noise from being transmitted through the case. One approach is to shock absorb each drive individually. This often requires either exclusive use of 5.25" drive cages, or modification to 3.5" cages. However, if the cage simply bolts to the inside of the case, there is an alternative: shock-absorb the cage.

For adding a barrier to noise transmission through such surfaces, Paxmate or Spire or other foam-rubber products can be just the thing. It compresses, and it adheres.

I also use it to fill holes in the chassis to control airflow and pressure. On larger panels, it DOES reduce the reflection of noise off the panels. The affects on cooling are only important if you intended deliberately to use your case as a heatsink. If your cooling solution does not rely on case-as-heatsink, it is not a terrible loss.

It helps some, but most of these kits are wayyyyyy overpriced to really get any benefit. I bought el cheapo sound absorption material from parts express and it work fine. Heat did increase, but it was only 1-2 C worth for the case and 3-4 on the processor

check out the silentpc forums. just search for spcr and you can find them, im too lazy to link right now
