Nexus 7 FHD gets better standby time if charged while off

Anyone notice the new Nexus 7 gets Significantly better standby time if charged while off (and then turned on without the charger connected)?

I'm talking 6 1/2 days standby vs 20 days standby, it is the oddest thing I've ever seen with a device. Also if you connect a charger to top it off suddenly it goes back to horrible standby time again.

Right now with 20 hours standby its used 13% of the charge. Hmm maybe I'll do a experiment: turn it off, top off the battery and then check back again to see how much it uses during 20 hours that way.

Well, it's been 21 hours (after charging w/the device off & turning it back on w/o the charger connected) and the indicator is still at 99%.

Either I have a broken tablet or 4.3's power saving modes don't trigger correctly after being charged while powered on.

I wonder if this works with qi charging.

Dunno, but I would love feedback from others on how much their Nexus 7 drain in standby.

Little update: I avoided using the N7 too see how long it took to use 13% when charged off and then turned on (without a charger connected). Guess how long it took... 4 days 1 hour!

That's crazy 20 hours vs 4 days standby.

Oh well that's android for you.

I have only charged my Nexus 7 three times...

First two times, I charged it without powering it off and got 4 days with light use...

My last charge, I powered it off and have rarely used it...on my 6th day, it was at 9%....

Haven't been able to replicate that on mine. One big thing to take into consideration - if you're letting it sit on standby after unplugging/turning back on, you probably have little to no apps running in the background sucking down battery juice, like email, weather, etc. If you are charging it after using it, and putting it in standby, it's still pushing/sending/etc in the background.

It's only a fair comparison if you do a fresh reboot after charging and comparing both.
