I have a car with a double din space but there is a single din stereo in it. I held the Nexus up to it and it would pretty much cover the opening with the single din still in it. I think I would like to mount it in there with velcro or something easy so I can remove the tablet if I want for whatever reason. I dont use the radio but sometimes someone in my car may want to. I just use my phone for streaming podcats and occasionally music from my Google Play music app. I connect to my stereo via bluetooth but it also has an aux connection. Any suggestions from someone who has done this?

I don't need it to look factory fit or anything nice, basically just to interface with stereo for control/ radio and to stay in place and be easily removable

A Proclip or Kuda mount has always worked for me. I like being able to easily mount devices in my cars without tearing up the dash.

Get a mount for your exact make/model vehicle and location you want the device:
http://www.proclipusa.com/dashboard-mounts/car-dash-mounts.aspx

Best thing about these as they are custom fit, even the interior colors match, and very easy to install rock-solid without tearing up anything, but also remove eventually. I've never once worried about anything sliding off my dash mounts because these are as close to rock stable as it gets without doing a custom build in.

Next get the custom mount for your device:

Of course make sure the desired mount location can fit the holder/tablet first.

You also might try something like this:

No idea how sturdy though. Personally I hate CD slot mounting, or suction cups but that's just me.
