I opened my nexus expecting to see about 80-90% charge, it having been in my bag all day unused. It had 14%. The battery graph was more worrying.

As you can see the battery plummeted while the device was plugged in and charging overnight. It also seems to charge slowly, showing as on USB, even when plugged into the wall. This seems to be an unfortunately common occurrence with older devices and corrosion in the USB port.

Its never until last night drained the battery while on charge. Any thoughts bar the fact it appears to be buggered.

Thats the step I'm trying now. And a variety of known good USB cables.

Try rebooting and seeing if it behaves the same way.

Also, is it rooted? Any wayward apps?

I got this behaviour with a rooted Nexus 7 with a lot of apps installed, running in the background.

I might try reseating/replacing the connector if I could get parts. Its just been on charge over night and got to 64% battery.

Just re-seating the connector will likely do it. No replacement necessary unless the USB port is actually broken.

Personally I have fixed 3 2012 models by just re-seating the connector. 2 of them would barely charge at all, and my own was extremely slow to charge.
