Battery life has greatly improved for me since 4.2.2 came out. I went back to Nexus 4 due to its dev support which is my biggest thing in a phone.

What are you getting for screen time? Stock or custom ROM/kernel?

I'm running Paranoid Android 3.1 with Franco Kernel r102, undervolted by .5mv across the board.

You forgot your screen time :p

I'm running stock android.

If I keep to a single day (~16 hours off charge), I get about 4.5-5 hours of battery life. Pushing it, I can get 5.5-6 hours on screen time with light use, but battery will die sometime during the evening.

Mostly though, I charge every other night now (~1d, 16 hours off charge), with about 1.5-2 hours of on screen time. And have plenty of battery (30%+) left over.

Stock everything. On 4.2.2 I can get 4+ hours of screen on time, before 3 hours was pushing it the phone would usually die right around 3 hours of usage.

Where do you read screen time? Do you simply do a math off of a graph?

quite honestly 4.2.2 didn't really change anything. Google didn't fix major errors such as Wifi delay, BT bug, msm_hsic wakelocks, etc. Battery life shouldn't be adversely affected.

Seeing that you're using Franco, yeah, it's got some additional fixes that should improve battery life.

On the note of Screen On Time, I feel like this is a horrible metric for measuring how "good" a phone is. Since the screen drains the most, essentially we're testing the screen. But I'm assuming we're also doing something such as constantly reading an article, or playing a game, in which case we're stressing the CPU and GPU.

I had a lengthy discussion with another AT member who's on XDA and we looked at Nexus 4 use patterns, use on 3G, wifi, etc, and we're both on AT&T in different parts of the US. Basically I noticed that while people can report great screen on time, in general the Nexus 4 sucks balls on 3G. You will easily get horrendous battery life on 3G in idle on the Nexus 4 unless you make sure you sync practically nothing.

Also 0.5mv across the board? I thought typical voltages for 1026mhz was like 1050mV or something. I don't see how undervolting by 0.5mV has any effect lol....

I don't see anything that would make a difference either, but there is a very noticeable and tangible difference.

The day after 4.2.2, I forgot to charge my phone for two days... (didn't even use it) and picked it up a couple days later and it still had 42% battery left (this is with all my sync on)... I was rather confused. My Nexus 4 didn't have that kind of battery life on 4.2.1.

Here's my stats: Nexus 4 4.2.2

22% Battery left
1d 3h 50m 26s
Screen - 34%
Phone Idle - 17%
Cell Standby - 11%
Android OS - 11%
Wi-Fi - 7%
some other junk below that

BBS - 1.9.2.1 - XDA edition

Other - Since charged
Deep Sleep - 22h 56m 48s
Awake - 4h 55m 58s - SUPER SAD about this.
Screen On - 2h 5m 30s

Partial Wakelocks - Since Charged
AudioOut_2 - 16m - count 293
RILJ - 7m C- count 12775

2 hour screen time =(, i'd kill for 3-4 -- suggestions? or is this inline with everyone else?

people (including me) who get 3,4 hours of screen on time are doing it in the span of 12-15 hours. if your phone has been off charger for 1d 3h 50m 26s I'd say you're doing pretty well with 2H of screen on time and 22% remaining.

That actually sounds kinda low to me. I think he's got an app that's draining his power.

Right now, I'm at 69% battery, 1h + 20min screen on time, which accounts for 47% of my power use. Chrome = 13%, phone idle = 10%, mobile standby = 8%, OS = 7%, system = 7%...

Have you had good mobile signal?

I managed to get 2 hours of light use (websurfing) screen time with 64h of phone on time on one charge - battery dead at that point though, not 22% left.

I meant 1.5mV

I have a problem lol. Got a sweet deal on a Note 2 today so I switched back, again lol.

exactly. he's got 22% left which is probably good for another hour of screen time, or for 15-20 more hours of standby.

Not at his current rate of consumption. A quick extrapolation of my use gives me 4.5h of screen time and ~20-22 hours off charge.

His... We're looking at 2h 40min screen time, with an off-charge of 34h... which is kinda weak.

Edit: That is, if he's been using his phone "lightly" (not gaming)

no gaming .. mostly FB, G+, Instagram, emails, chrome.
i can't figure out what's the app that could cause this .. can apps not even open cause to leak battery? I do run Nova Launcher and MinimalisticText

Battery Widget App says:
Discharging Speed Delta 1%
5 Minutes

Your stats and usage time looks fine to me. 28 hours with over 2 hours of screen time and 22% battery life left is not bad. You're not going to get 4-5 hours of screen time over 24 hours period unless you're on WIFI the entire time.

FB is a known battery user - randomly turns on GPS etc. I would disable FB notifications if I were you. You can get them via gmail anyway.

Hm. I get an extra hour of screen-on time (3h, 15m) compared to him, over 27h of off-charge time. This with 22% charge left...
