Nexus 4 KitKat(4.4) Update Taking over an hour

Received word of System update on my Nexus 4 running 4.3 just a few hours ago and said okay, etc. per usual but it's been doing a loading screen (4 circles of different colors going in and out of each other) for over an hour now. The phone is a bit warmer than usual (not dangerously so or that concerning).
I'm curious if this continues for much longer if it'd be a horrible idea to try and power off the device. All my data is backed up so if I have to do a wipe I'm not too concerned, but I obviously don't want to brick my phone.

Any advice would be appreciated!

If its just downloading it then you could restart the phone safely and see if that helps.
If its installing it when you actually have to initiate then I would think twice about that.

Hopefully you've had it on AC power or at least a full charge before starting. But, it is a Nexus phone. They're pretty hard to hard brick. Worst case scenario, you might be fiddling with adb and the factory 4.4 image.

I think I tried to update to 4.3, not 4.4. But I just bricked my Nexus 7 because of it. Error showed up, now stuck on the X screen and I'm searching for a way to unbrick it. Bad impressions like this leave a sour taste in my mouth. I'm swearing off these non-Windows tablets for life. At least Windows update won't destroy my machine.

Google needs a this is where we are rolling out map... No kit kat for my nexus 4 or 7 yet :(

Got my update for my Nexus 4 last Friday.
I highly doubt they do it by location. They randomly randomly pick x amounts of Nexus 4 or 7 from a their database and push accordingly.
