Saw this decent phone i90c from Nextel @ Amazon.com. I got this phone a month back and activated on 35.99 plan (300 anytime + 3200 NightsWeekends + 100 Direct minutes - long distance included with 1yr svc agreement) . When I got it it was $20 after rebate. When I recently browsed Amaxon, this same phone appears to be free after rebate. Not a bad deal for those who wanna try extra features like speakerphone (only offered by NEXTEL), Direct minutes - Walkie Talkie feature. Also this phone is Java enabled - you can download games and apps (java based).

I got a similar deal on the i90c through Amazon last summer. It's a neat little phone and Nextel phone connection quality is acceptable. My only reservation is that Nextel customer service is poor. For some reason, the $100 credit that's part of the hot deal was not posted to my bill and it took until last month to get that credit! It took many phone calls to clueless reps :|. I admit that the problem may have originated with Amazon, but the ineptitude of some of the Nextel reps galled me.

If you look at the $100 credit offer, there's no form to submit or anything. It's supposed to be automatic, so if you get in on this offer, be real careful and make sure it shows up on your bill.

I have a I90c for my work phone and as long as you have a good Nextel coverage area you'll like the phone and the service.

Works great for me!

The phone is a piece of junk in a big sort of way...quality is lacking AND it makes pretty much all speakers (computer included) make a clicking noise when receiving a call or on the phone talking. This includes high end well shield pc speakers, etc.

And yes, there is definitely the factor that customer service has to be the worst of any cell phone company I have looked at or had.

It is a good deal for the phone itself though ;)

I noticed the same clicking problem with my AT&T phone. I think Nextel uses TDMA (Nextel calls it iDen) like AT&T does.

Yep, TDMA uses very high powered signals. Will mess with any speakers around. I had both services, they both did this. T-moblie does not have this problems, as does spring and any body eles who does not use TDMA.

Does High signal power=brain cancer? :)

I don't know about you but I love my i90. The only thing in my house that clicks when I use it is the baby monitor. Their customer service has been super for me. Then again I'm using Nextel Partners (for small rural areas). Their service center is in Florida. I had to call because I couldn't access my account online and the lady spent over an hour on the phone with me trying to figure out what was wrong. She could access it by logging in but I couldn't. We finally got it.

If you're unsure about Nextel check out http://www.howardforums.com in the nextel forum.
