I am in the market for a new cellphone and I think Nextel has improved their service plans tremendously since the last time I looked into them. They have a plan that looks like it will fit me nicely: $45/month for 500 anytime minutes, 2000 nights and weekend minutes, free long distance and roaming, and 100 direct connect minutes.

So now the problem is deciding on a phone and finding a good price on one. I really like the new i90c, it looks like a very nice phone. Can anyone who has used this phone share their opinions on it? Or if someone could point me to a review I would appreciate that as well.

Now, the deal:

LetsTalk.com offers this phone for $225 - $50 rebate if purchased with a service plan. It looks like the best price I can find on this, but maybe someone else can do better.

We bought our i90c phones direct from nextel for $249, which requires sending in an old crummy one or they charge you an extra $50. This was an upgrade, not a new activation. Anything under $200 seems like a good deal.

However in most ways I really liked my i1000+ better. A bit bigger but you could do a lot more with the cover closed. Also the voice recognition took a dump on my i90 after about a month and I had to re-record all my voice dialing. And I have yet to find a decent use for the java built in.

Hey, important info for you i90c owners: The knockoff non-oem i85 batteries fit the i90, as does the car charger. BUT the i85 desk charger does not! (contrary to what I was told by nextel - found this out the hard way 5 desktop chargers later).

I have been using TNT Wireless to buy cheap nextel accessories. I've been getting the batteries for about $25, and they are more MaH or whatever than the nextel standard ones, so they last longer, but are less than half the price. Shipping is cheap, too, and they are nice. Desktop chargers are about $10, and car chargers about $7. TNT Wireless, 888-889-7511. Tell them Hugh sent ya. And don't flame me to tell me you can find them so much cheaper yet on ebay - count the shipping and get back to me!

I was looking in to Nextel and the I90 also. Best deal I found, not being from NYC, was Nationwidewireless for $199 + the $25 credit off your first bill. Then I realized my current contract with Cingular isn't up till
June 30th.. :(

Sorry for the blank post-- fat fingered!!

what is the deal with the $25 credit on your first bill. I believe I saw that advertised on Nextel's site as well. I wonder if you would still get the credit if you purchased your phone from letstalk.com?
